Donny van de Beek’s agent has dismissed the idea of him joining a Premier League rival upon returning to Manchester United.
The midfielder joined Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt on loan in January after playing just 21 minutes at United earlier this season.
Van de Beek’s move includes an option to buy worth £9.5million but talkSPORT understands Frankfurt are unwilling to trigger it.
He has made just four starts in eight appearances for the club and is now due to return to United, as confirmed by his agent Guido Albers.
The 27-year-old was previously his client before reportedly switching to Ali Dursun two years ago, but the pair are now back together.
And in an interview with ESPN, Albers spoke on what the summer holds for Van de Beek: “I’ve talked to him a lot. He is hungry and eager. I’m out with Eintracht Frankfurt.
“They still had a purchase option until June 30, but they are not going to exercise it. He goes back to Manchester United. We are now discussing how to take a new step from there.”
Albers then seemed to rule out a move to another Premier League club when he added: “The Premier League is not a good choice for him now.
“In any case, he will not return to Ajax. My preference is to get in Spain, Italy and France. If I could get him to Spain or Italy that would be fantastic.
“He has to go to a club where he will play at ’10, the way he played at Ajax. There he showed what a fantastic player he can be.”
This summer could prove crucial for Van de Beek as his contract at United ends in June 2025, which would make him a free agent.
He signed for the Premier League giants in 2020 after a successful stint at Ajax in a deal worth £35million plus £5million in add-ons.
However, Van de Beek has endured a tough time at Old Trafford, making just 62 appearances in all competitions over four seasons.
Much of his spell has been impacted by injuries though, including a ligament strain that kept him out of action for half of last season.
His loan at Frankfurt has been his second spell away from United after he spent the opening months of 2022 at Everton, with a permanent exit on the cards for the Dutchman this summer.
