Wolves are hopeful of completing a £25m swoop for Celta Vigo striker Jorgen Strand Larsen, talkSPORT understands.
The 6ft 4inch Norwegian international scored 13 La Liga goals last season.
Larsen has been subject of interest from Serie A, however the player is believed to have his sights set on a move to the Premier League.
Negotiations are moving at a fast pace with personal terms set to be agreed between the player and the club.
Aston Villa and West Ham have also shown an interest in the striker but so far only Wolves’ interest has been concrete.
Larsen signed for Celta from Dutch outfit Groningen in August 2022 and has gone on to score 18 goals in 73 appearances.
He made his senior international debut in 2020 and has now clocked up 14 caps for Norway.
Wolves have had to tighten the purse strings in recent months and that was set to remain the trend after boss Gary O’Neill hinted that Wolves were unlikely to spend big this summer.
The Midlands club are keen to avoid Profit and Sustainability sanctions that plagued both Nottingham Forest and Everton last season.
Therefore, it was expected that sales had to be made before splashing the cash on bolstering their squad ahead of the new season.
That could still be the case with a number of Wolves players subject of interest from Premier League rivals.
Newcastle and West Ham remain interested in skipper Max Kilman despite seeing their bids turned down. Portuguese forward Pedro Neto is also a target for rival clubs.
Wolves has already completed the signings of defensive pair Rodrigo Gomes from Braga with Brazilian wonderkid Pedro Lima set to join the club on July 1, after successful completion of a medical.
