Sebastian Fundora’s win over Tim Tszyu was a bloodbath on Saturday night in Las Vegas.
The late-replacement American pulled off a major upset, stepping in on one week’s notice to dethrone the Australian champion and claim the WBC and WBO super-welterweight world titles.
The fight was bloody from the very start, firstly because Tszyu busted up Fundora, leaving him bleeding from his nose and mouth.
Then, in round two, Tszyu picked up a horror cut on the top of his head from an accidental Fundora elbow.
Somewhat controversially, the doctor and referee allowed the fight to continue.
Tszyu bravely battled on regardless, but was ultimately beaten by split decision.
One fan reacted: “Tszyu is an absolute dog for fighting with this cut.”
While a second agreed: “Give Tszyu a lot of credit for fighting through this cut. It’s massive and he’s really showing a ton of heart.”
A third fan wrote: “This Tszyu vs Fundora fight is the bloodiest boxing match I’ve ever seen.”
And a fourth concurred: “Probably the bloodiest fight I’ve seen. Both men bleeding non-stop.”
Former IBF featherweight world champion Billy Dib expressed his concern as he posted: “This is ridiculous. This fight needs to be stopped. The amount of blood being lost is dangerous.”
And a fan added: “You wonder whether Tszyu should have been pulled out due to the cut. His vision is so compromised here.”
Women’s boxing superstar Claressa Shields concluded: “Probably the bloodiest fight I’ve seen in a while!”
