Manchester United vs Arsenal predictions
In the last two Premier League weekends, Arsenal played before Manchester City. That allowed them to extend their lead at the summit of the standings, at least until Pep Guardiola’s side took to the field a bit later.
This time around, the boot is on the other foot. Manchester City go first, with their game against Fulham scheduled for the 12.30pm slot on Saturday.
If the champions come out on top at Craven Cottage, they will move two points clear of Arsenal in top spot. That in turn would pile the pressure on Mikel Arteta’s men ahead of their visit to Old Trafford on Sunday.
When these two teams met in the fourth gameweek of the campaign back in September, there was not much between them. Tied at 1-1 until the dying embers of the match, Arsenal scored twice in second-half stoppage time to take all three points.
They have gone from strength to strength since then. A wobble around the festive period saw many write off Arsenal’s title tilt, but they have been magnificent since the turn of the year, taking 43 points from a possible 48 after January 1.
The same cannot be said of Manchester United, who plumbed new depths with a 4-0 thrashing by Crystal Palace on Monday night.
The most damning thing about that game at Selhurst Park was that the final scoreline did not really come as a surprise.
Erik ten Hag is surely coming towards the end of his tenure at Old Trafford, although United’s underperformance has gone on for so long now that the problems run deeper than the man in the dugout.
United will compete in the FA Cup final later this month and they could do with building some momentum before then. But against title-chasing Arsenal, this could be a difficult 90 minutes for the Red Devils.
Manchester United vs Arsenal betting tips
Manchester United and Arsenal will lock horns in the Premier League this weekend.
Arsenal to win to nil – 2/1 (Paddy Power)
Arsenal have both the best attacking and defensive records in the Premier League this season, but it is their solidity at the back that really sets them apart.
Despite the fact some teams still have three fixtures remaining, Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya has already won the Golden Glove having kept more clean sheets than any other custodian this term.
The Gunners have successfully kept their opponents out in 17 of their 36 matches to date. That is five more times than Everton, the side with the next best record. Ten of Arsenal’s shut-outs have come in 2024, when they have tightened up even more.

Manchester United fashioned few chances against Crystal Palace last time out. Their overall scoring record has actually been reasonably good in recent weeks, but the possible absence of Bruno Fernandes would significantly reduce their attacking threat, as it did at Selhurst Park.
Arsenal have a steely focus about them right now and that should help them to keep a clean sheet this weekend.

Under 3.5 goals – 10/11 (bet365)
Manchester United have been a defensive mess for much of the season. Ten Hag’s team have conceded 55 goals but that does not tell the full story. Without goalkeeper Andre Onana, that statistic would be much, much worse.
We know that because United are giving up an enormous amount of chances. They rank fifth for expected goals against, behind only Burnley, West Ham United, Luton Town and Sheffield United. As for shots conceded, only Sheffield United have a worse record on a per-game basis.
Yet this match might not be as high-scoring as many anticipate. For one, United can get away with a more defence-minded approach given who they are facing. The home crowd will not get restless if a reactive game plan is able to blunt Arsenal’s attack.
From the perspective of the visitors, they will have drawn lessons from a recent trip to Tottenham Hotspur. After storming into a 3-0 lead, Arsenal ended up hanging on after Spurs pulled two goals back.
Game management will be the order of the day, so we should not necessarily expect Arteta’s side to go chasing more and more goals.

Kai Havertz to score any time – 6/4 (bet365)
Kai Havertz has really turned his season around. Dismissed as a transfer flop in the first half of the campaign, the Germany international has been instrumental in recent months.
Having found it tough to influence games as a midfielder, Havertz is thriving as a central striker.
His work ethic and aerial ability have added a new dimension to the Arsenal attack of late.
Havertz scored in the aforementioned defeat of Tottenham, a few days before which he notched a brace against Chelsea.
The 24-year-old has divided opinion throughout his time in England but he can show his quality against Manchester United on Sunday.
