Jamie Carragher has told Liverpool fans to leave Mohamed Salah and Jurgen Klopp to ‘sort it out’ and ‘enjoy their last few weeks together’.
The Liverpool icons epitomised what has been a rough period for the Reds, with the pair arguing on the touchline as Salah prepared to come on in the Reds’ 2-2 draw at West Ham on Saturday.
Salah added sparked further worry amongst Liverpool fans with his comments in the mixed zone after the game, telling the media ‘if I speak, there will be fire’.
But despite the incidents sparking debate amongst Liverpool’s fan base, Carragher – who earned his legend status during his 25 years at Anfield – has told fans not to take sides.
Taking to X the morning after the game, Carragher said: “MO Salah & Jurgen Klopp are both @LFC legends.
“We don’t need to take sides! Salah is frustrated & angry with Jurgen that he’s not playing & at that moment didn’t want to fully embrace the boss, Jurgen understandably took exception.
“MO was daft with his comment in the mixed zone but lets let them sort it out & enjoy the last few weeks together.
“They’ve been a massive help to each other in all that’s been achieved at the club!”
Liverpool’s 2-0 defeat to Merseyside rivals Everton in mid-week marked a huge set back in the Premier League title race with Arsenal and Manchester City.
Carragher also said Salah had ‘gone off the boil’ in his post-match analysis of the clash at Goodison Park.
The Egyptian had failed to score in his last three league games – a streak that has now extended to four matches.
It marks a rare dip in form for Liverpool’s superstar winger, whose contract expires next summer.
Salah has been key to Klopp’s success as Liverpool, scoring 210 goals in 346 games since signing from Roma in 2017.
The pair have won a Premier League, a Champions League, an FA Cup and two League Cups together.
They now have just three games left before Klopp bids farewell following his nine-year reign.
The Reds have played 35 games, one more than leaders Arsenal and two more than second-place City. Despite this, both of their title rivals have superior points tallies by two points and one point respectively.
