Jamie Carragher has backed Manchester City to retain their Champions League crown.
But he couldn’t help but aim a cheeky dig at Pep Guardiola’s side as he referenced their 115 charges relating to alleged Financial Fair Play breaches.
The Liverpool legend was on punditry duty for CBS Sports where he was tasked to predict the winner of the competition.
Breaking down the results from the quarter-finals, he backed City to prevail against Real Madrid, Bayern Munich to stun Arsenal, as well as victories for Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid over Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund respectively.
As for the semi-finals, he tipped City to then brush aside Bayern with Kylian Mbappe to spearhead PSG to the final at the expense of Atletico.
And it’s the Citizens who Carragher believes will emerge victorious in club football’s biggest tournament for a second successive season.
However he was quick to fire a thinly-veiled swipe at the Etihad Stadium outfit.
With a huge smirk across his face, said: “And the winner is… the team with 115 charges, Manchester City!”
His comment drew laughter from host – and Manchester United fan Kate Abdo – though City fans on social media failed to see the funny side.
Replying to the video on X, one user messaged: “Odd behaviour this.”

Another commented: “Bud intentionally pick City so he get to say ‘115 charges.'”
A third added: “He’s so cringe it’s unreal.”
This fan then posted: “Even with those 115 charges, even Phil Foden got more Premier League medals than Jamie Carragher.”
Meanwhile one simply stated: “He’s a total bore!”
