Rory McIlroy added another big title to his stunning CV after teaming up with Shane Lowry to taste victory in the Zurich Classic.
The Northern Irishman got his hands on yet another trophy in his debut appearance at the unique tournament in New Orleans.
It was a meaningful win for McIlroy and you could tell by his celebrations afterwards, as he chugged a beer and sang Journey’s ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ alongside good friend Lowry.
And he is right to celebrate in that way as he has now reached an incredible landmark…
How many career wins does McIlroy have?
McIlroy has a total of 39 career victories.
He has four major titles, 21 wins on the PGA Tour, 10 on the DP World Tour, one on the PGA Tour of Australasia and three other global victories.
He is the first player to reach 25 PGA Tour wins (regular season events and majors) since 2005 after Phil Mickelson and Vijay Singh did so 19 years ago.
His victory at the Zurich Classic was his first on the PGA Tour since the Genesis Scottish Open in 2023.
Since McIlroy won his first PGA Tour trophy in 2010, there have only been two years that he has not tasted success and they came in 2017 and 2013.
But since 2018, he has won a tournament every single year.
He has won The Open, the US Open and the PGA Championship twice and also claimed glory at The Players, the BMW PGA Championship and has three World Golf Championships.
On the DP World Tour, McIlory’s most recent win came at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic in January.
While he holds four major wins, he has been waiting a long time for his fifth, with his last success in the showpiece tournaments coming at the 2014 PGA Championship.
However, he continues to win on the tour and is surely moving closer to another major crown.
Having more fun on the course could make the difference and speaking after the Zurich Classic, McIlroy referenced the importance that had on claiming his first win of 2024.
“The reason that Shane and I both started to play golf is because we thought it was fun at some stage in our life,” he said.
“Reinjecting a little bit of that fun back into it in a week like this week, it can always help.”
He continued: “It’s absolutely amazing. We’ve had an awesome week here in New Orleans.
“We’ve had so much fun while doing it and it’s just a bonus to win at the end.”
McIlroy will next be in action at the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow, an event he has won three times already.
He will then look to end his major drought at the 2024 PGA Championship which is being held at Valhalla this year, the venue where McIlroy claimed Wanamaker Trophy in 2014.
