Georgia vs Czech Republic predictions
Georgia and Czech Republic were both beaten on matchday one, so this is a crunch clash for both teams in Group F.
Georgia are the only debutants at this year’s European Championship and they must have been pleased with how they acquitted themselves last time out.
Willy Sagnol’s side went toe to toe with Turkey. Although they lost 3-1, the opposition’s third goal came deep into second-half stoppage time as Georgia were pushing for an equaliser.
Given they only beat Cyprus in their qualifying group before advancing to Germany via the play-offs, Georgia were more competitive than many expected.
Over in Leipzig, Czech Republic came within a whisker of picking up a point in their first outing of the summer.
A fine strike from Lukas Provod gave the Czechs a surprise lead shortly after the hour mark. Portuguese pressure eventually told when Robin Hranac put through his own net, before substitute Francisco Conceicao popped up with a dramatic winner in stoppage time.
There were positives for Czech Republic to take from their performance. They frustrated Portugal for long periods. A disciplined defensive shape made it tough for their illustrious opponents to play through them.
They were also robust and physical all over the pitch, and did a decent job of defending the numerous crosses that Portugal sent into their own box.
Similarly, Georgia must have been pleased with elements of their display against Turkey. They did not simply sit back and hope for the best, instead pushing bodies forward when there was an opportunity to do so.
Anything Georgia get from this tournament is a bonus and that sense of freedom certainly appeared to help them last time out. It could be a factor again here, when there will be more pressure on Czech Republic to emerge triumphant.
If there is to be a loser on Saturday, they would probably not make it through to the knockout phase. The stakes are high for both teams.
Georgia vs Czech Republic betting tips
Both beaten last time out, Georgia and Czech Republic could each do with a win on Saturday.
Czech Republic to win – 8/11 (VBET)
Czech Republic will have to flip their strategy for their second game at Euro 2024. After playing on the back foot against Portugal, they will be obliged to take more of the initiative in this one.
The Czechs were not exactly free-scoring in a relatively straightforward qualifying group, finding the net 12 times in eight games against Albania, Poland, Moldova and the Faroe Islands.
However, even against Portugal they showed a willingness to get players forward. The Czechs play with two strikers in Patrik Schick and Jan Kuchta, while the wing-backs and midfielders also look to get involved.

For all that they did give Turkey something to think about last time out, Georgia also gave up a lot of chances.
Czech Republic looked more measured in their first match and they should be able to take advantage of the gaps in Georgia’s setup without the ball.
The Czechs have greater tournament pedigree than their upcoming opponents and that could be a factor too.

Both teams to score – 5/6 (Betfred)
It will be interesting to see what sort of approach Georgia take here.
The debutants took risks against Turkey on matchday one, but that may have been in part because Vincenzo Montella’s men are defensively vulnerable.
On this occasion, sitting behind the ball could be a smarter strategy since Czech Republic could lack the guile and invention to prise open a compact and narrow defensive structure.
Yet Georgia’s first match of Euro 2024 gave the impression that they are determined to make their mark on this tournament rather than exiting meekly.
This might not look like a standout fixture on paper, but some of the so-called lesser games have been hugely entertaining up to now.
Georgia vs Czech Republic could be another surprise in that regard. We fancy goals at both ends in this one, just as there was in the first matches involving these teams.

Patrik Schick to score any time – 7/4 (Sky Bet)
If Czech Republic are to advance to the round of 16, they will need their star man Schick to do the business in the final third.
The Bayer Leverkusen man has genuine quality in attacking areas, but he did not get much service against Portugal given his team’s preoccupation with keeping the back door shut.
Schick finished as the joint-top scorer at the last edition of the European Championship, scoring five goals.
He has a good record for his country overall with 19 goals in 38 appearances at senior level.
Both these teams use a 3-5-2 formation, so there will be plenty of one-versus-one battles across the pitch. If Schick can get the better of Georgia’s centre-backs, Czech Republic will fancy their chances of winning.
