Alex Pereira sent Jamahal Hill down and out in the opening stanza moments after taking a low blow.
The Brazilian MMA star retained his light-heavyweight title in the UFC 300 main event on Sunday night by stopping the American with a vicious left hook.
A matter of seconds before landing the finishing blow, Hill propelled a kick into Pereira’s groin.
As he did, referee Herb Dean tried to step in and give Pereira time to recover but ‘Poata’, not one to ever kick up a fuss, waved off Dean and went straight after the challenger.
The first shot he landed, a perfectly timed lead hook, dropped Hill as Pereira closed the show with some brutal ground and pound.
In the immediate aftermath, Pereira called for a fight at heavyweight on the Rio card next month.
“I want to keep defending this belt but I spoke a lot about fighting in Brazil if I won this fight.
“I won this fight, I’m not hurt, nothing happened. I know there needs to be a lot of promotion behind a fight but I want to fight at heavyweight.”
