Alex Pereira didn’t seem particularly impressed by the new UFC 300 bonuses.
The UFC usually dishes out $50,000 rewards to recipients of the ‘Fight of the Night’ and ‘Performance of the Night’ awards at their shows.
But at UFC 300, that sum will shoot up to $300,000.
Dana White announced the steep increase at the final press conference on Thursday – much to the delight of the fighters on stage.
Jamahal Hill flung his arms up in delight while Kayla Harrison and Calvin Kattar banged the table and cheered.
However, Pereira – never one to kick up much of a fuss – sat there expressionless as the bombshell dropped.
Of course, English is not Pereira’s native language so he may not have fully understood what White was saying.
Regardless, it certainly made for entertaining viewing for fans.
Reacting to Pereira’s deadpan stare, one fan quipped: “He forgot to turn the stove off.”
Another joked: “He doesn’t know where he is. He doesn’t know what is being said. All he knows is that he must KILL.”
A third added: “I was legit waiting to see him get excited just to see it…didn’t let me down lol.”
Meanwhile, a fourth wrote: “Does he ever smile?”
Pereira defends his UFC light-heavyweight title against Hill in the main event of UFC 300.
The Brazilian MMA star defeated Jiri Prochazka last November to claim the vacant belt and will now defend it for the first time on Saturday night.
Hill is essentially the champion in recess having won the strap against Glover Teixeira last year before being forced to vacate it due to injury.
Elsewhere on the bill, Weili Zhang defends her UFC strawweight crown against Chinese compatriot Yan Xiaonan while Justin Gaethje and Max Holloway duke it out for the BMF belt.
