Wayne Rooney has declared himself the perpertrator of an infamous prank on David Moyes.
The 38-year-old came through Everton’s academy, with Moyes handing him his senior debut at the age of 16 in 2002.
He spent two seasons under the Scotsman’s tutelage before joining Manchester United, where he became the club’s top scorer.
And while Moyes helped develop Rooney in becoming one of the Premier League’s – and England’s – all-time greats, that didn’t stop him from being on the end of a cruel dressing room prank.
Speaking on Sky Bet‘s latest episode of Stick to Football, he recalled the incident, which left Roy Keane, Gary Neville and Ian Wright in stitches.
Rooney said: “So, yeah, Moyesy has ran in off the training pitch.

“He must have desperately needed the toilet and has ran straight into the first-team dressing room, which was not far from where you run in.
“[He was] straight on the toilet and closed the door.
“And I knew what was happening, I could see them [his team-mates] all looking at me.
“I could see them filling the bucket up. They were like, ‘There you go.’ So I was like f***sake.
“So I’ve gone in the next cubicle and stood on the toilet and gone whoosh (pretends to pour bucket).
“I sprinted out of there and got out of there.”
Pressed by Wright whether Moyes came storming out in anger, Rooney revealed: “I was gone, I was gone.
“I had done him, I was off. I weren’t waiting around for him to come out.”
Rooney and Moyes were reunited in 2013 after the latter succeeded Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford.
But their second time working together didn’t end as planned, with Moyes replaced less than a year into the job with the club languishing seventh in the table following a 2-0 defeat at Everton.
