Jamie Carragher has stayed true to his word and joined Borussia Dortmund fans for a few beers before the Champions League final.
Carragher infamously joined the Yellow Wall at the Signal Iduna Park during Dortmund’s Champions League semi-final against Paris Saint-Germain, where he admitted he had ‘about eight pints’ while working as a pundit for CBS Sports.
It led to an all-time classic interview with Jadon Sancho after the match, with the Liverpool legend slurring his words and the Dortmund loanee looking a bit uncomfortable.
Carragher had already been seen chugging beers outside the ground with fans before a ball had been kicked, and promised to have a few more if they reached the final at Wembley.
He has stayed true to his word, with the former Liverpool defender pictured with a group of Dortmund fans having a few drinks on Friday before the final against Real Madrid.
CBS Sports released the video footage of Carragher singing and dancing with Dortmund supporters on the streets of London.
And he was already a bit merry, happy to be back with his self-confessed family.
In one moment, he could be heard shouting: “Where have you gone now Madrid?
On May 1, Carragher joined in with the fans in the stands at the Signal Iduna Park and thoroughly enjoyed himself.
Speaking to CBS Sports host Kate Abdo after the match, he said: “I’ve had about eight pints in the Yellow Wall!
“I’ve got a new family, a family of friends, we all look after each other, I gave them a few bob after half time.”
It was at this point, Carragher swooped in on Sancho for an impromptu interview with the former defender putting an arm around the Manchester United loanee.
In the studio, Thierry Henry had his head in his hand while Micah Richards could not contain his laughter, saying: “He’s got his arm around him!”
Carragher told a bewildered Sancho: “Tonight, I was in the Yellow Wall. The great thing about the Yellow Wall is the atmosphere.
“It is not the best view in the world, I thought you played well.”
Carragher might have a better view on Saturday at Wembley when Dortmund and Real Madrid lock horns in the Champions League final.
