Bayer Leverkusen are Bundesliga champions for the first time in their history, and the celebrations are going to last a lifetime.
The German side have blown everyone away under Xabi Alonso’s guidance, so it made perfect sense for the Spaniard to be front and centre of the party.
After the game in the dressing room, the former Liverpool midfielder was enjoying himself when a pitcher of beer was tipped over his head.
This went down very well with the dressing room, who could be heard cheering.
Alonso played off the whole thing and went back to sipping his bottle before he was presented with a huge stein of beer that he began to drink.
The manager was also targeted in his post-match press conference with Edmund Tapsoba and Jonathan Tah running in and jokingly pouring beer on Alonso’s head.
So judging by these scenes, he might wake up with a very sore head, which he is unlikely to even remotely care about, given what he’s achieved.
There were also great scenes with Granit Xhaka.
The Swiss midfielder left Arsenal last summer for a return to Germany and has played an important role in Leverkusen’s win.
He was filmed live by Jeremie Frimpong on the player’s Instagram account, and you could see Xhaka was loving the whole thing.
The Dutch defender can also be heard saying: “My G.
“We won it. Granit, you came from Arsenal, and you won it here, my f****** G.”
It’s a hilarious video and completes the redemption arc of Xhaka.
Under Mikel Arteta, he became a huge player and was a fans’ favourite by the time he left, and he’s now part of the team that ended Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga dominance.
These two clips are likely to be just the tip of the iceberg for the Leverkusen squad, who have been sublime all year.
Their first Bundesliga title was confirmed after a 5-0 win over Werder Bremen.
Xhaka scored, Victor Boniface got one and Florian Wirtz bagged a hat-trick as Alonso’s side sealed the title in style.
They are now 16 points clear of Bayern Munich with just five games to go, so it’s not as if the title race has even been close.
And the full-time whistle sparked wild scenes as the Bayer Arena filled with smoke as thousands of fans rushed onto the pitch to celebrate their magnificent success.
The German side can still end the season with a treble as well and are one step away from reaching the Europa League semi-final and are in the DFB Pokal final, so there could be even more beer thrown on Alonso before the end of the year.
