Manchester United let a three-goal lead slip as Coventry forced them to extra time in the FA Cup semi-finals.
The Red Devils looked home and dry at Wembley as they went 3-0 up after 58 minutes, however three goals in less than 25 minutes saw the Championship side take the clash all the way.
Scott McTominay and Harry Maguire put the Red Devils 2-0 up going into half-time, before Bruno Fernandes looked to have secured their spot in the FA Cup final.
But Coventry, led by former Man United man Mark Robins, were not going to be beaten that easily.
Ellis Simms got the comeback started, before Matt O’Hare’s effort deflected off Aaron Wan-Bissaka to set up a nervy ending.
Coventry pushed forward and got their reward in the fifth minute of injury time when Luis Binks’ cross hit the arm of Wan-Bissaka, leading to a late, late penalty.
Haji Wright, who kept his composure in a high-stakes moment, sent Andre Onana the wrong way to send the tie to extra time.
With a top six finish the best that Man United can realistically hope for in the Premier League, the FA Cup takes on added significance.
The winner will face a tough task in the final though, with Man City lying in wait following their victory over Chelsea on Saturday.
