Tom Brady is going to get flamed, torched and roasted in a historic Netflix special.
It became incredibly cold and tense between Bill Belichick and Brady during the GOAT’s final years as the quarterback of the New England Patriots.
So how is it going to work when Belichick — out of a coaching job and recently hired as an NFL analyst by ESPN — roasts the 46-year-old Brady on live worldwide streaming TV?
“Haha, no way?? This is going to be so good,” one fan tweeted.
“Yooo, LMAO. I wonder how that will be?” a second fan posted.
“Belichick, after hating the media for 20 years, is now one of them?” a third fan wrote. “A little money can go a long way.”
Belichick potentially flaming Brady and cracking live insider jokes about the best QB of all time becomes even more intriguing when the end of their shared time with the Pats is remembered.
They won six Super Bowls together and created a dynasty that lasted for two decades.
Brady wanted to stay with New England, but Belichick believed that the aging QB was past his prime.
Add in Belichick’s “Do your job” intensity, and it became clear that no love was lost between the two as Brady moved on and won a Super Bowl with Tampa Bay.
“Me and coach Belichick, we did what we loved and competed for 20 years together,” Brady said on The Dynasty. “But I wasn’t going to sign another contract (in New England) even if I wanted to play until 50. Based on how things had gone, I wasn’t going to sign up for more of it.”
Other Patriots backed Brady’s feelings.
Belichick went out his way to treat everyone equally, which meant that Brady sometimes wasn’t treated like the best QB in NFL history.
“Tom and I had a number of discussions about how Bill treated him,” Patriots owner Robert Kraft said. “Tommy is very sensitive. He was always looking for Bill’s approval, almost in a father-son kind of way. And that’s not Bill’s style ever to give that.”
The irony is that Brady excelled without Belichick, delivering the Buccaneers their first Super Bowl title while players across the league rallied around him.
Belichick plummeted without Brady — and is now set to participate in a celebrity roast centered around the greatness of his former New England QB.
Netflix’s “The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady” will feature a loaded lineup that is scheduled to include Brady’s former teammates and other big-name sports personalities.
Rob Gronkowski, Julian Edelman, Randy Moss, Drew Bledsoe and Belichick are set to appear, while Ben Affleck could make an appearance.
Gronk will surely slam Brady in a Gronk way.
But everything that Belichick says about Brady will be heavily scrutinzed — and praised if Belichick is as great of a roaster as he was an NFL head coach.
The roast of Brady will air at 1 a.m. BST on Monday, May 6.
According to Netflix, it will be the first-ever roast telecast live and unedited.
Actor/comedian Kevin Hart will host the event at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles.
“I’m un-roastable. Let’s go!” Brady boldly declared in a trailer.
His old New England head coach might have a few things to say about that.
