Jake Paul has sent a threatening message to Mike Tyson after the rescheduling of their controversial crossover clash.
The pair are now set to meet on November 15 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas following the postponement of their July 20 date after doctors declared Tyson medically unfit to compete.
It came after Tyson suffered an ulcer flare-up during a flight to Los Angeles that left him dizzy, nauseous, and requiring medical treatment.
While his PR team insisted Tyson had made a full recovery, medical professionals insisted that a fight in July would be too early for the 57-year-old.
The new date is in line with doctors’ advice, who informed Tyson he wouldn’t be able to compete until the fourth quarter of 2024 (October to December).
Paul and Tyson have been very friendly with each other throughout the build-up to their fight but ‘The Problem Child’ has switched up on the former undisputed heavyweight champion after reading his latest social media post.
Announcing the new date on Instagram, Tyson wrote: “New date for Jake’s wake.”
Taking exception to Tyson’s choice of words, Paul replied: “Is he the definition of all talk? Cause it seems like it…” before comparing him to former foe Nate Diaz.
“This Nate Diaz type of s*** talk (meaningless),” he continued. “Take your time sir (not that you have much of it). This a** whooping has patience.
“Main reason I’m mad is because you f**** up my St Barths plans.
“And I know you don’t use socials so to Tyson’s team y’all are some hoes too and deliver my message for me.”
Paul and Tyson enter the fight on very different trajectories.
‘Iron Mike’ hasn’t fought in a professional contest since 2005, when he retired on his stool against Kevin McBride.
Meanwhile, Paul has been actively competing in the paid ranks for the last four years and sports a 9-1 record.
The majority of his fights have come against aging combat sports legends such as Tyron Woodley and Anderson Silva.
And he continued that trend by announcing Tyson as his next opponent.
It was initially thought their fight would be an exhibition bout.
However, it has been sanctioned as a professional bout by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation under a modified rule set.
Paul and Tyson will box over eight, two-minute rounds, rather than the traditional three minutes, and will duke it out in 14oz gloves instead of the 10z ones pro boxers usually wear.
Knockouts are allowed and the results will go on both men’s professional records.
