WWE NXT will crown the first-ever Women’s North American Champion in a ladder match at Battleground on June 9.
NXT GM Ava announced during this week’s NXT episode that the inaugural Women’s North American Champion will be decided in a ladder match at the Battleground PLE on Sunday, June 9 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
A combine will be held on the May 7 NXT episode to narrow the field of potential participants to 12, with the top combine finishers then facing off in six singles qualifying matches on future episodes of NXT TV.
The winners of the qualifying matches will then compete in the ladder match to determine the first Women’s North American Champion.
WWE originally announced the introduction of the new North American title at Stand & Deliver on WrestleMania weekend.
Main roster star Michin was one of the competitors who declared for the combine during Tuesday’s NXT episode in an in-ring promo. Michin, Jaida Parker, Sol Ruca, and Arianna Grace were the featured stars in the promo segment, which eventually devolved into a brawl featuring a large portion of the NXT women’s roster.
