Chicago has a couple of new superstars.
Former LSU standout Angel Reese was recently drafted No. 7 overall in the 2024 WNBA Draft by the Chicago Sky.
On Thursday, the Chicago Bears used their No. 1 overall pick to select former Trojans quarterback Caleb Williams.
Reese and Williams are two of the most exciting names in sports and the former is buzzing to have Williams in the same city as her.
“DMV TIES! LET’S TURN THE CITY UP!! CONGRATS GANG! @CALEBcsw,” she posted on X.
Reese was a national champion in college and forged an intense rivalry with fellow WNBA superstar Caitlin Clark.
In a rematch of the 2023 title game, the No.3 Tigers were dumped out of this year’s NCAA Tournament in the Elite Eight at the hands of Clark and the top-seeded Iowa Hawkeyes, who claimed a 94-87 victory.
Following the defeat, Reese called time on her collegiate career and declared for the 2024 WNBA Draft.
She was selected number seven by the Chicago Sky on draft night and will be joined by former adversary Kamilla Cardoso.
In a video posted to Instagram, Reese said, “I’m coming to Chitown. I’m super excited to compete, work hard and let’s win.”
Reese is one of the biggest names in the game and it didn’t take long for her Sky jersey to sell out.
“my jersey already being sold is crazy i love yalllll,” Reese said on X.
Shortly after, ‘Bayou Barbie’ said she needed a new nickname now that she’s playing in the Windy City.
“I need a new name now that i’m in Chicago lol something cute that is catchy like Bayou Barbie,” she wrote.
“Hey y’all, so it’s the Chi Barbie here,” she said in a TikTok.
“I want y’all to know like I’m still gonna be the Bayou Barbie but like I’m going to Chicago now. They [are] basically already been inheriting me into Chicago. Like so many people reached out to me — the love from Chicago is running deep and going crazy. So I am the Chi Barbie. I’m the Baltimore Barbie and I am always gonna be the Bayou Barbie.”
Reese is set to make her WNBA debut on 4 May against the Minnesota Lynx.
Williams, meanwhile, is primed to take the NFL by storm.
He won the Heisman Trophy in 2022 with USC after completing 66.6 percent of his passes for 4,537 yards, 42 touchdowns and only five interceptions.
He was undoubtedly the best QB in this year’s class which is why Chicago went all in on him in the draft.
