The Premier League trophy could be heading north or south this weekend with Arsenal still in with a chance of winning the title.
Manchester City beat the Gunners’ north London rivals Tottenham in midweek to put one hand on the trophy but the race remains on.
The Cityzens’ 2-0 win on Tuesday put the club two points clear at the top in their bid to win an unprecedented fourth successive league title.
Arsenal will have to beat Everton in the final match, live on talkSPORT, and hope West Ham get a result of some kind against the champions.
The two matches are taking place at the same time with a 198-mile difference between the Emirates and the Etihad.
So should there be some final day twists-and-turns, akin to City’s first Premier League triumph in 2012, what happens to the trophy?
What happens with the Premier League trophy on the final day?
Sergio Aguero’s dramatic winner against QPR was one of nine occasions where the champions have been decided on the final day.
But should Man City suffer the reverse fate with Arsenal, a Premier League trophy won’t be helicoptered from one stadium to the other.
Instead, there are in fact two identical trophies – one that is held for the season by the current holders and the other kept for use by the Premier League.
City – as defending champions – will already have one of those trophies at the Etihad, with the other deployed at the Emirates.
Both stadiums will also have identical podiums and pyrotechnics in place in the event that a quick title-winning party needs to be set up.
Arsenal and Man City players won’t have to worry about having to wait to receive their medals either.
A set of 40 will be available at both Etihad Stadium and the Emirates for the winners.
Any player who has made at least five appearances is eligible to receive one – the rest are freely distributed at the club’s discretion.
The trophy will not be engraved until after the champions have lifted it – with an expert engraver standing by at each ground.
