In a delightful moment during the second ODI between Sri Lanka and India at the R. Premadasa Stadium, Virat Kohli brought a touch of light-heartedness to the field by imitating Riyan Parag.
The incident took place during the Sri Lankan innings, providing fans with a cheerful spectacle amidst a competitive match.
Virat Kohli’s Bihu dance
The moment unfolded on the fourth ball of the 26th over, bowled by Axar Patel.
Sadeera Samarawickrama, attempting to break free from a tight spell, danced down the track and tried to slog Axar’s delivery. However, the 90kph ball turned slightly, causing Samarawickrama to mistime his shot. The ball took the lower part of the bat and lobbed towards the cover region. Kohli, positioned at cover, quickly reacted by backpedaling and taking a safe catch, dismissing Samarawickrama for 14 off 31 balls.
Following the dismissal, Kohli, known for his animated celebrations, added a special twist by mimicking Parag’s popular Bihu dance moves, a traditional dance from Assam. Parag, an Indian cricketer known for incorporating the dance into his celebrations, has made the Bihu dance a recognizable gesture in cricketing circles. Kohli’s playful imitation brought smiles to his teammates and spectators, showcasing the camaraderie and joy within the Indian camp.
