In the first ODI between Afghanistan and Bangladesh at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Wednesday, Afghanistan’s spin sensation Allah Ghazanfar clean-bowled Bangladesh opener Tanzid Hasan with a perfectly executed delivery.
Allah Ghazanfar removes Tanzid Hasan with a stunning delivery
This stunning delivery, bowled in the 4th over of Bangladesh’s innings, saw Tanzid beaten for pace as the ball zipped past his bat and pad, crashing into the middle stump. The precise spin and speed of Ghazanfar’s ball resembled the deceptive deliveries of his countryman Mujeeb Ur Rahman, marking a memorable moment in the match.

Bangladesh’s batters falter in the chase
Afghanistan, batting first, posted a challenging total of 235 in 49.4 overs. All-rounder Mohammad Nabi led the batting charge, scoring a solid 84 off 79 balls, including four fours and three sixes. His vital innings provided the foundation for Afghanistan’s competitive total.
Bangladesh’s bowlers, however, put up a strong fight; Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman each took four wickets, keeping Afghanistan from crossing the 250-run mark.
Chasing a target of 236, Bangladesh faltered under the pressure of Afghanistan’s potent bowling attack. None of the Bangladesh batters managed to reach a half-century, and the team was eventually bowled out for 143 in 34.3 overs. Ghazanfar’s early breakthrough, combined with disciplined bowling from the rest of the Afghan attack, ensured that Bangladesh struggled to build partnerships, resulting in a significant 92-run victory for Afghanistan.
With this commanding win, Afghanistan has taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh. The team’s impressive all-round performance has set a strong tone for the rest of the series, positioning them as favourites as they aim to secure a series victory.
