Dana White has shared two truly grim pictures following the latest episode of his Contender Series [DWCS].
DWCS cards see prospects fighting each other for the opportunity to sign a UFC deal, with the MMA mogul on hand to decide who joins his roster.
On Tuesday night, four fighters did enough to earn a UFC contract from White – but Michael Aswell just missed out after suffering a split decision defeat.
However, White promised that if a featherweight bout arises, Aswell would be on the list for a phone call after showing tons of heart to fight through a horrific cut.
“This is one of the best fights ever in the history of the Contender Series,” White said before giving Aswell’s opponent, Bogdan Grad, a UFC deal.
“You guys are both dogs. Incredible fight. I gave you both your show and win [money] and I gave you both a bonus.
“You both have a bright future in the sport. You’re definitely in the UFC and Michael, as soon as he heals up, Sean Shelby [UFC matchmaker] said, ‘If anyone falls out, Michael is going into the UFC too’.
“So, congrats to the both of you!”
After that, White took to Instagram to share before and after pictures of Aswell.
They show his eyebrow split right open and looking like something from a horror movie before it was sewn back up by the UFC doctor – but even then, it still looked horrific.
UFC fans were blown away by Aswell’s ability to fight through the cut.

One person tweeted: “HOLY S*** what a cut on Michael Aswell.”
Another said: “Respect to these fighters.”
Someone else commented: “Wow. That pushing 20 stitches!! What a beast of a fight.”
A fourth person marvelled: “These dudes are not human. Fighting through an injury of that magnitude is absurd.”
Aswell dropped to 9-2 in professional MMA, but he’s just 23 years old and seems to have the world at his feet after earning a standing ovation from White.
Grad stretched his winning streak to three in a row and improved his overall record to 14-2 after previously falling short on the Contender Series last year.
The 28-year-old got KO’d by Tom Nolan, but now he’s a UFC fighter.
It seems highly likely that Grad and Aswell will rematch down the line.
