Rickie Fowler vented his frustrations at a fan who appeared to disturb him at The Players Championship.
The 35-year-old was teeing off on the 16th hole at TPC Sawgrass in Florida on Saturday when a spectator annoyed him.
As Fowler was eyeing up his shot, his caddie Ricky Romano could be heard saying: “Hold the camera still, leave all the phones on silent.”
He then hit an impressive 285 yard drive, but the disturbance seemed to irk him and he certainly let the fan in question know.
“You! What are you doing?” he shouted, pointing at the spectator after quickly finishing his follow through on the shot.
He reportedly told the Daily Mail that the shutter noise of the fan’s camera caused a disruption before his drive.
Others on social media were shocked by his reaction, with one saying on X: “The angriest I’ve ever seen Rickie Fowler.”
“I mean I’d be p****d too,” added a second.
A third said: “I like Rickie. If he’s lost it, the fans definitely crossed a line.”
“Tough scene, never seen Rick that mad,” added a fourth.
The noise may well have distracted him even further on the 16th hole as he hit his second shot into the water.
Fowler then finished on a double bogey and ended the day four over par with a score of 76.
Xander Schauffele leads the competition after his impressive third round, sitting ahead of Wyndham Clark by just one shot.
Sunday’s final round will give Fowler the opportunity to reduce his deficit and bounce back from his distraction the day before.
