Bet of the Day
FCSB to beat Maccabi Tel Aviv @ 15/8
The Champions League second qualifying-round tie between Maccabi Tel Aviv and Steaua Bucharest is finely poised after a 1-1 draw in Romania last week. However, FCSB were clearly the better side in Bucharest and the Red & Blues can secure a victory and qualification in Hungary.
Elias Charalambous’ men won the shot count 16-4 at the National Arena and FCSB limited Maccabi Tel Aviv to just a single shot on target.
Hungary offers no home comforts for the Yellows and it’s hard to see where the upturn in performance from Maccabi will come from.
Maccabi are depleted with Roy Revivo, Dor Turgeman, Elad Madmon, Osher Davida and Ido Shahar all away at the Olympics, while FCSB took the opportunity to rest a whole host of key players at the weekend.
Take Steaua to win at Budapest’s Bozsik Arena and book their place in the next round.
Longshot of the Day
Dynamo Kiev to score over 2.5 goals @ 2/1
Dynamo Kiev ran riot when beating Partizan Belgrade 6-2 in Poland last week and the Ukrainian side can show their class again in Serbia.
The Blue & Whites crashed in 24 shots, six corners and looked dangerous all over the pitch with six individual scorers in that first-leg success.
Clearly Oleksandr Shovkovskyi will feel his side have one foot in the next round, but there is more chance of Partizan’s level dropping, with qualification effectively beyond the reach of the Steamroller.
Kiev are a superior side to Partizan and they will be full of confidence following last week’s impressive victory in Poland. Take the Blue & Whites to score over 2.5 goals in Serbia.
Special of the Day
Bodo/Glimt-Bodo/Glimt half-time/full-time @ 29/20
Bodo/Glimt are 4-0 up on RFS after the first leg in Norway and that superiority is likely to stick in Latvia.
The Yellow Horde recorded 88% possession at the Aspmyra Stadion, and while Kjetil Knutsen’s side may be in cruise control, they are clearly a superior outfit.
RFS will know the tie is pretty much beyond them, and it’s unlikely the Latvian side will be flying forward in search of an equaliser, should they fall behind in the first half.
Bodo/Glimt’s superiority is likely to be in evidence and they can be backed on the half-time/full-time market.
