Bet of the day
Netherlands to beat Germany @ 31/20
It wouldn’t be international football without reports of a bust-up in the Netherlands camp and last week was no different.
Former Manchester United star Wout Weghorst stormed out of training after being involved in a fiery clash with Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber, which left manager Ronald Koeman forced to separate the pair.
Koeman himself has been pretty abrasive in recent weeks, calling time on Steven Bergwijn’s international career, after the 26-year-old made the move to Saudi Arabia, but that doesn’t seem to have an adverse effect on Oranje’s performances.
The Netherlands were one of the more impressive teams at Euro 2024, before their run was ended by England in the semi-finals and the Dutch hammered Bosnia and Herzegovina 5-2 on Saturday.
Oranje hit 28 efforts on goals, earned 10 corners and had an expected goals tally of 4.09 in that Philips Stadion contest, and while Koeman’s men step up in class against Germany, the Netherlands look underrated by the prices.
Germany crushed Hungary 5-0 On Saturday and there is no doubt Julian Nagelsmann’s men will carry a threat, but perhaps not quite as much as the prices indicate.
Special of the day
Over 3.5 goals in England v Finland @ 6/5
England recorded a 2-0 victory over Ireland in Lee Carsley’s first game in charge and the Three Lions look ready to roar when they take on Finland at Wembley.
The Three Lions created five or six excellent goalscoring opportunities against the Boys in Green on Saturday night and Finland are unlikely to offer much resistance in London.
Markku Kanerva’s side have conceded 14 goals in their last five matches, they were hammered 3-0 by Greece last time out and Finland could be hit hard at Wembley.
Long shot of the day
Greece to win to nil v Republic of Ireland @ 3/1
Saturday’s Nations League clash between the Republic of Ireland and England was given a hyped build-up due to the rivalry between the two near neighbours, but it failed to deliver as a contest on the pitch.
The Boys in Green registered only one shot on target, one corner and 24 per cent possession in a 2-0 Aviva Stadium defeat to the Three Lions and it certainly wasn’t the performance Heimir Hallgrimsson would have hoped for in his first game in charge of Ireland.
Hallgrimsson’s side, who have scored only three goals in their last seven matches, carried very little attacking threat and that’s not a huge surprise with forward Adam Idah, who is a mile off international standard, leading the line.
Greece have kept seven clean sheets in their last 10 matches and the Pirate Ship are an improving nation, who had no issue beating Ireland 2-0 in Dublin last year.
At 3/1 Ivan Jovanovic’s men look to be great value to win to nil on Tuesday night.
