There are two gold medal bouts at Roland Garros on Wednesday on a packed day of boxing action and the home crowd could have a lot to celebrate.
Nurbek Oralbay and Erislandy Alvarez clash in the men’s 80kg final, while Sofiane Oumiha takes on Erislandy Alvarez for the men’s 63.5kg gold medal.
Elsewhere, Bakhodir Jalolov, Ayoub Ghadfa, Nelvie Tiafack and Djamili Aboudou Moindze are the four men left to do battle in the super-heavyweight division and it’s easy to see why the impressive Jalolov is the overwhelming favourite.
There’s little betting interest in the 92kg+ division, with Jalolov an overwhelming market leader, and the same can be said for Taiwan’s excellent Lin Yu Ting, who is likely to dominate her 57kg rivals.

Oumiha set for glory
The clash between Oumiha and Alvarez is competitively priced, but the former looks the standout performer and is capable of taking home the gold medal.
The Frenchman won a silver medal in Rio back in 2016, losing out to Brazilian Robson Conceicao in the final, and the experienced performer is a three-time lightweight world champion.
Oumiha was kept out of the medals in Tokyo three years ago after a last-16 defeat to Keyshawn Davis but the three boxers that filled the podium in Japan – Andy Cruz, Davis and Hovhannes Bachkov – have all switched to the paid ranks and the path has been cleared for the French star to fill the gap.
The Toulouse-born boxer has looked impressive during his three bouts so far, securing back-to-back 5-0 victories over Obada Al-Kasbeh and Richard Kovacs.
Oumiha then faced Wyatt Sanford in the semi-finals and the home favourite made light work of his Canadian opponent, taking the fight 4-1.
Home crowd to spur Oumiha on
More will be needed against Alvarez in the final, but Oumiha has a home crowd on side and the task doesn’t look as tricky as the prices suggest.
Alvarez is a gifted fighter and he stopped John Ume in the last-32 stage before racking up three 5-0 victories in a row against Jugurtha Ait Bekka, Bunjong Sinsiri and Lasha Guruli.
But the 24-year-old is now in the biggest bout of his career and his limited experience could work against him as the Cuban comes up against a top-level opponent in Oumiha.
It has also been a disappointing time for Cuba at these games with just two boxing medals collected, and that marks their lowest haul in 56 years.
Alvarez has the chance to salvage a gold for the nation, but it’s a big ask of a young fighter and Oumiha looks good value to take victory.
