Amanda Nunes appears to be ready to end her MMA retirement.
The former dual-weight champion was watching along from home as Kayla Harrison made her UFC debut at UFC 300 in Las Vegas on Saturday night.
Some people were tipping Holly Holm to pull off an upset, but she was dominated from the first bell and ultimately suffered a rear naked choke submission loss in round two.
Raquel Pennington is the current bantamweight champion and is expected to defend her belt against Julianna Pena at some point this summer.
It appears the UFC newcomer wants to face the winner later this year.
“I want my title next,” Harrison told Joe Rogan during a post-fight interview.
“That’s why I came over here, for one thing and one thing only.
“I don’t care if it’s Raquel. I don’t care if it’s Julianna.
“By the end of the year, I will be UFC champion.”
‘The Lioness’ watched along at home and videoed herself as Harrison spoke with Rogan following her first win with the company at the T-Mobile Arena.
Nunes captioned her footage ‘Chama’, which means fire in English, but is often used by Brazilian fighters, including Alex Pereira, as a substitute for ‘Let’s go.’
The MMA legend, who retired last year, didn’t say anything but tapped her ear and did a disappointed shrug when Harrison failed to call her out at UFC 300.
Fans quickly flooded her comment section to remind her about something.
One person said: “But you’re retired, champ.”
Another wrote: “You’re retired….”
Someone else tweeted: “Aren’t you retired lol?”
A fourth person asked: “She back?”
Nunes and Harrison used to train together at American Top Team, but the former bantamweight and featherweight UFC champion started her own gym when they became potential rivals.
It now appears to be just a matter of time before Nunes ends her short retirement and returns to the Octagon for a scrap with Harrison.
