Everton striker Beto had to be taken off on a stretcher after he and Morgan Gibbs-White suffered a nasty clash of heads.
The Toffees forward and Nottingham Forest midfielder both went to challenge the ball in the air during second-half stoppage-time.
Both players hit the turf and players from each side were quick to call for medical attention, with Beto worryingly lying motionless.
Gibbs-White was soon able to sit up and then return to his feet but his Everton counterpart received lengthy treatment.
His teammates were visibly concerned at Goodison Park and the striker was eventually taken off the pitch on a stretcher.
With supporters applauding, Beto was able to hold a thumb up to show fans he was okay.
