Stroll credits Vettel with helping him become a ‘better racing driver’

Lance Stroll has credited Sebastian Vettel with helping him to become a “better racing driver”.

Vettel joined the Aston Martin team in 2021 following his exit from Ferrari and spent two seasons with the squad before retiring from the sport at the end of 2022.

Stroll was Vettel’s teammate throughout that time and believes that he was able to benefit from the four-time World Champion’s extensive experience.

“I think it’s been great,” Stroll told Motorsport.com.

“He’s extremely experienced, and very talented. A four-time champion, so that says it all.

“It’s really just been a lot of fun. I mean, he’s been a competitor in the car, but I think he’s really pushed me to understand different things, like how to approach the weekend, how to adapt my work ethic, and be a better racing driver.

“I definitely learned a lot from him in that regard, just watching how he does his things.”

Stroll praises Vettel’s contribution to Aston Martin

Stroll also believes that Vettel has had a positive influence on the team as a whole.

“He’s definitely also just helped push the team forward and bring some ideas from his past experience at other top teams, like Ferrari and Red Bull,” the Canadian added.

“I think that that was huge. Plus, on top of all that stuff, he’s just been just a cool guy outside of the car. And super nice. And that makes the seasons more pleasant.”

While Stroll will remain with the Aston Martin outfit for a fifth season in 2023, there will be a new arrival on the other side of the garage as Fernando Alonso joins on a multi-year contract to replace Vettel.
