WILMINGTON, N.C. – The UNCW baseball program will hold its 20th Annual Spring Training Banquet on Jan. 28, 2023, on campus at the Burney Center.
The event, which will be emceed by Mike Vaccaro, the Voice of the Seahawks, will include Seahawk baseball alum Evan Phillips and first-team All-CAA infielder Taber Mongero as speakers as well as fourth-year head coach Randy Hood.
Phillips established himself as one of the top relievers in the major league last season for the Los Angeles Dodgers, finishing with a 7-3 record and a 1.14 earned run average. His 64 appearances were a staff high for the Western Division champions.
Mongero, who also earned ABCA All-Atlantic Region honors, hit .301 with six home runs and was the only Seahawk to start all 55 games at shortstop.
In addition to the featured speakers, the event will have a silent auction with items ranging from sports memorabilia to packages from local businesses.
The 2023 Seahawks, which include 14 newcomers, will be introduced during the event and the team-voted awards from the 2022 season will be presented.
