Kevin Holland snapped his losing steak in sensational style at UFC 302.
The long-time welterweight contender squared off against Michał Oleksiejczuk at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on Saturday night.
‘Trailblazer’ was in desperate need of a win after suffering back-to-back defeats against Michael Page and Jack Della Maddalena in his past two fights.
Holland’s latest bout only lasted 94 seconds, but for most of it, he was on the verge of suffering a third consecutive loss against Oleksiejczuk.
The heavy-handed Polish fighter scored a heavy knockdown before making the grave mistake of following his opponent, who is a BJJ black belt, to the floor.
Holland quickly grabbed onto one of Oleksiejczuk’s arms and began to lock up an armbar submission, but the 19-8 UFC star refused to tap.
The American kept changing his angle to try to force the finish and he eventually did that by breaking or dislocating his rival’s arm.
UFC commentators Joe Rogan and Daniel Cormier pointed out the sickening injury several seconds before referee Herb Dean noticed it and called off the fight.
Footage of the sickening submission quickly went viral on social media and triggered UFC fans.
One person tweeted: “Crazy arm bar.”
Another said: “Ewwww.”
A third person added: “When that arm popped my body started to shiver bro.”
Someone else wrote: “His arm was messed up.”
During his post-fight interview with Rogan, Holland insisted he didn’t want to seriously injure Oleksiejczuk, but was forced to do so after he refused to tap.
“I was trying not to go too hard [on the armbar] but then I realized he wasn’t going to tap,” he said.
“I kind of feel like I’m the best gatekeeper you’ve ever seen.”
