Going into the London Knights’ game Friday night, the last time Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Easton Cowan was held scoreless in an OHL regular-season game was Nov. 24, 2023, almost a full calendar year ago.
That’s pretty freakin’ remarkable. The streak has totalled 47 games, which is eight back of the OHL record, set by Doug Gilmour in 1982-83. But the league and the CHL said it will not officially recognize Cowan’s feat because it spans over two seasons.
That’s in keeping with what the NHL does in these situations. But there is one way the Toronto Maple Leafs’ top prospect could catch Gilmour for the official OHL mark.
