Willie Limond has died aged just 45 after suffering a suspected seizure in his car.
The Scottish boxing favourite was found unresponsive in his vehicle on Saturday, April 6, and then spent over a week in a critical condition in hospital before passing away.
Limond was a European, British and Commonwealth champion in his heyday.
He most famously fought Amir Khan when the British boxing legend was an unbeaten rising star in 2007, flooring him before ultimately losing by stoppage.
Limond was due to return to the boxing ring for a fight with Joe Laws on May 3rd.
However on Monday, St Andrews Sporting Club (who were due to stage the event) posted: “Everyone at St Andrew’s Sporting Club are shocked and deeply saddened at the loss of our friend, Willie Limond.
“Willie was not only a legend of the sport, but an infectious character who will be greatly missed by us all.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Jake, Drew, Macy and the rest of the Limond family at this time.”
