    Scottie Scheffler’s wallet is set to expand even further despite not even needing to hit a ball.

    The American has already pocketed an eye-watering £22million in prize money this season thanks to his six victories across the PGA Tour this year.

    Scheffler also added a gold medal to his ever-expanding collection of awards that includes The Masters having won the men’s golf at the Paris Olympics.

    Although Scheffler was visibly emotional after securing the gold medal, it wasn’t the most lucrative prize on offer financially.

    But that is set to matter little given Scheffler will land a £6m bonus from the upcoming Wyndham Championship – without even hitting a single ball.

    That’s because his sensational form over the course of the season has the 28-year-old sitting pretty at the top of the PGA Tour standings.

    In fact, Scheffler’s 5,993 competition points is a whopping 2,000 ahead of Xander Schauffele and 3,500 in front of Rory McIlroy, who are placed second and third respectively.

    With only 500 points awarded to the winner at Wyndham and Schauffele giving the tournament a miss, it means Scheffler will end the season sitting atop the Comcast Top 10 rankings.

    The £6m prize is awarded to the individual who accrues the most points across the season, with the initiative becoming active in the 2018-19 season.

    But Scheffler’s earnings and victories may not be done there.

    The FedEx St. Jude Championship and BMW Championship are yet to be played and should Scheffler win those, he’ll take home a cool £5.6m.

    Scheffler’s attention will then turn towards the season-ending Tour Championship, contested by the top 30 players in the final season standings.

    As a reward for ending the season as the top-ranked player, Scheffler have an incredible advantage over his rivals by starting at 10-under par.

    The significant boost puts the two-time Masters winner in pole position to take out the Tour Championship and earn a £20m pay day.

    It means Scheffler has a very real chance of adding £33m to his prize money this season in the space of a few weeks given the Wyndham Championship commences on August 9 and the Tour Championship ends on September 1.

    Win all of those tournaments, and Scheffler will end his scintillating campaign £55m richer than when he began it
