Scotland 1-1 Switzerland – REACTION
Right, that’s it from us this evening as the Tartan Army got off the mark in Euro 2024 with a hard-fought draw against Switzerland.
Steve Clarke’s side opened the scoring when Scott McTominay’s shot was deflected beyond Yann Sommer by Fabian Schar.
But they were soon level through an excellent Xherdan Shaqiri strike.
Both sides pushed for a winner, but neither could find one, leaving Group A in the balance.
We hope you enjoyed the coverage, and we’ll see you all again soon.
In the meantime, here is our match report.
Tierney update
We all saw Kieran Tierney close to tears as he was stretchered from the field with what appeared to be a nasty hamstring injury.
Steve Clarke was asked about the Arsenal defender, and he said: “He’s definitely out [of the Hungary match].
“It looks pretty bad, but Kieran won’t make the next game.
“You have to feel for him. He’s a top player for us, and someone else has got to step up.”
Clarke’s happier
It would be fair to say that Steve Clarke is much happier with what he saw from Scotland tonight against Switzerland then what they served up against Germany.
Speaking to the BBC, he said: “We’re a good team when we play.
“You have to write that first one off as a bad night.
“Tonight, we were determined to make sure we were pressing, and it worked against a very good Switzerland team.
“We were punished for a small mistake, but we responded, and I thought it was a good game between two evenly matched sides.
“We always knew the points we require were going to come from these two games, and we go to the next game believing we can get three points.”
