Ryan Garcia is planning on jumping up in weight after beating Devin Haney.
‘King Ry’ was in fine form as he dropped Haney three times en route to a majority decision victory on Saturday night.
Despite getting his hand raised, Garcia was not eligible to compete for Haney’s WBC super-lightweight belt after coming in 3.2lbs over the 140lbs weight limit.
As a result, Haney retained his strap while Garcia remains on the lookout for world honours.
In the immediate aftermath of the fight, Garcia insisted he would be interested moving up to welterweight for his next outing.
However, he may jump up even further if a fight with 6ft6 WBC and WBO super-welterweight champion Sebastian Fundora presents itself.
“I had a vision to fight [Sebastian] Fundora at 154 [pounds],” Garcia said at his post-fight press conference.
“I don’t know why, I just feel I could knock him out. I know that’s really, really random. I just feel like I could get the title at 154.
“I fought guys that big before and I’ve knocked them out in sparring. Cold, slept them.
“I want to do it. Shout out Fundora, no disrespect.”
Garcia will have to get in line for a shot at Fundora. It seems like everyone is calling him out at the moment.
Errol Spence and Terence Crawford have both been campaigning for that fight in recent weeks as they eye their 154lbs debuts.
But it looks as though none of them will be able to secure that bout anytime soon as a second fight between Fundora and Tim Tszyu is reportedly being targeted for November in Las Vegas.
Fundora upset the apple cart last month when he defeated Tszyu on a split decision to pick up the WBO and WBC titles.
Tszyu took the fight on 11 days’ notice after his original opponent, Keith Thurman, pulled out through injury and so Fundora’s team promised the Aussie a second fight out of courtesy.
