Rory McIlroy got a priceless reaction from his three-year-old daughter for deciding to visit legendary golf coach Butch Harmon.
All eyes are on McIlroy ahead of the Masters at Augusta next week – but the world no.2 has struggled with his swing in recent months.
Speaking ahead of the Texas Open, live on talkSPORT 2, McIlroy revealed he visited Tiger Woods’ former coach Harmon in a bid to fix his game before the first major of the year.
“I went to see Butch Harmon for a golf lesson,” McIlroy told the I Can Fly podcast.
“I’ve seen him over the years, like once every few years. I’ll say, ‘Hey, Butch, can I just come see you and you can take a look and see what you think’.”
But the most valuable lesson perhaps came from his daughter, Poppy, who gave him a big dollop of perspective before he left to see Butch.

When he said he was going for a golf lesson, McIlroy added: “She said, ‘Dada, you already know how to play golf’. That’s probably the best piece of advice I’ve gotten in the last three years.”
McIlroy can become only the sixth golfer in history to win all four majors if he finally triumphs at Augusta.
It would also end a ten-year drought since the last of his four major victories – hence the emergency call to Harmon.
Butch was famously Woods’ golf coach between 1993 and 2004, inspiring one of the most dominant eras in sport by any individual athlete.
McIlroy added at a press conference on Wednesday: “I met Butch when I was 14 years old, so we’ve always had a good relationship. If there’s one guy that I want to go and get a second opinion from, it’s him.
“He’s sort of half golf coach, half psychologist in a way. It’s fun to go out there, I went and spent probably four hours with him in Vegas. He said a couple of things to me that resonated.”
