Time to get your pre-game meal on.
The NHL’s new Utah Hockey Club will be adding some spice to its home games this year at Delta Center by including menu items that are specific to the visiting team, according to Belle Fraser of the Salt Lake Tribune and announced by the Delta Center on Tuesday.
We’re already salivating at the options.
Will Montreal get smoked meat sandwiches or poutine? Will games against the Sabres feature Buffalo chicken wings or the more traditional beef on weck? And do Chicago, New York and Detroit all get pizza?
Here’s a look at what delicacies could be in store for all 31 visiting NHL teams.
Cool touch at Delta Center this year — for all #UtahHC games there will be a food option that represents the city of the opposing team.

Anaheim: In-N-Out Burger — the fact you have to travel all the way to California (or the western part of the U.S.) makes this burger chain better than it actually is. Do yourself a favor and upgrade to animal style, which adds fried mustard, caramelized onions, pickles and extra Thousand Island spread.
Boston: Clam Chowder Soup — Order it just so you can say “chow-dah” in your most obnoxious Bostonian accent.
Buffalo: Beef on Weck — Buffalo wings are the obvious choice. But our Sabres site editor, Michael Augello, says that Charlie the Butcher makes the best roast sandwich, which is a Western New York delicacy and features a kummelweck roll that is topped with kosher salt and caraway seeds.
Calgary: Steak — The province of Alberta produces close to half of Canada’s beef supply.
Carolina: Pulled Pork — An easy choice, although they better offer up a great selection of sauces.
Chicago: Hot Dog — Chicagoans take their hot dogs seriously. Not only are there seven specific toppings that must be included, but there is also a specific order in which to apply them: mustard, relish, onion, tomato, pickle, peppers and celery salt.
Columbus: Pancake Balls — Katalina’s Cafe offers its version of the Timbit or Munchkin, which are filled with Nutella, maple syrup or Bacon.
Colorado: Rocky Mountain Oysters — Don’t let the name fool you. These meatballs are actually made from bull testicles, which are skinned, coated in flour and then deep fried.
Dallas: BBQ Brisket — Unlike Carolina or Tennessee, Dallas brisket typically uses a less complex spice rub and relies more on the type of woods for flavor when cooking the meat. The Delta Center already said Texas smoked brisket platters will be the go-to choice against the Dallas Stars and NBA’s Dallas Mavericks.
Detroit: Pizza — Deep dish, rectangular and loaded with Wisconsin brick cheese. The Delta Center announced this choice as well.
I wonder what Edmonton will get. Donairs?

Edmonton: Donair — The city’s Lebanese community has made the donair (made from ground meat that is formed into a cone shape and frozen) a popular staple.
Florida: Cuban Frita Burger — A take on the Cuban sandwich, the frita burger is made of pork and beef and piled high with crisp shoestring fries and onions, slathered in smokey spicy ketchup.
Los Angeles: Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffle — According to the Los Angeles Times, Roscoe’s is “such an L.A. institution that people don’t even question the strange combo anymore.”
Minnesota: Culver’s — Home of the ButterBurger, Culver’s is a must-stop destination when visiting the Midwest.
Montreal: Smoked Meat Sandwich — Whether it’s bagels, poutine or steamies, Montreal does food better than almost anywhere on this list. For our money, no trip to la belle province is complete without a Montreal smoked meat sandwich from Schwartz’s Deli.
Nashville: Hot Chicken Sandwich — Hattie B’s usually has a lineup stretching around the block for their famous “mother clucking hot chicken.”
New Jersey: Pork Roll (a.k.a, Taylor Ham) — Is it a pork roll or a Taylor ham? It’s a question that has long been used to determine whether someone is from north or south Jersey.
NY Islanders: Long Island Ice Tea — The popular cocktail is typically made with vodka, tequila, light rum, triple sec, gin, and a splash of cola — and best enjoyed.
For the Rangers game they'll have New York prices.
27 dollar hotdog.

NY Rangers: Pizza — Considered the best place to get a slice, New York pizza is characterized by having a crust that is thick and crisp along its edge but is still thin and soft enough so that it can be folded in half when eating.
Ottawa: Beaver Tails — Pam and Grant Hooker from west of Ottawa founded their fried dough bakery shops in 1978, stretching the dough into the shape of a beaver tail.
Philadelphia: Cheesesteak — Rocky started his day by drinking raw eggs. But if he wanted to bulk up with his fight against Apollo, chances are he was eating a hoagie.
Pittsburgh: The HBK Sandwich — who knew that putting coleslaw and french fries inside a ham, bacon and kielbasa sandwich would be so good? During the 2017 Stanley Cup final, the famous Pittsburgh restaurant, Primanti Bros., created the “HBK” sandwich, which paid homage to the Penguins’ third line of Carl Hagelin, Nick Bonino and Phil Kessel.
San Jose: Burrito from Iguanas — Home of the Burritozilla, a five-pound and 18-inch long “monstrous super burrito.”
Seattle: Ceder Plank Salmon — there’s nothing wrong with going with a classic coffee inspired by the city where Starbucks was born, but salmon is a key part of the Seattle Kraken’s branding, and for a premium experience at the Delta Center, having the smoky flavor will be well worth it.
St. Louis: Toasted Ravioli — Pat Maroon ate the breaded and deep fried delicacy out of the Stanley Cup in 2019.
Tampa: Cuban Sandwich — a variation of the traditional ham and cheese, the Cuban is made with ham, roasted pork, salami, swiss cheese, pickles and mustard on Cuban bread. In 2012, it was designated as the “signature sandwich of the city of Tampa.”
Good luck finding a Toronto choice. Literally no food is specific to T.O. https://t.co/LMQYGLcq4R

Toronto: Peameal Bacon Sandwich — Though Toronto’s multiculturalism makes picking a specific food difficult, pork packer William Davies is credited with creating peameal (Canadian) bacon. Any trip to the city is not complete without enjoying the signature dish from Toronto’s St. Lawrence Market.
Vancouver: Japadog — Vancouver’s take on the hot dog includes a sausage made with Kurobuta or Kobe Beef and topped with kimchi and noodles.
Vegas: Tacos — You can literally get anything from around the world when in Vegas. But the city does Mexican better than almost anywhere in the U.S.
Washington: Chicken Parm — Alex Ovechkin has been going to Mamma Lucia’s since he was a rookie and ordering the same pre-game meal of chicken parm, pasta and a mix of tomato and Alfredo sauces, which he pours over everything. Make sure you schedule a nap when you’re done.
Winnipeg: Perogies — The city’s rich Polish history (Manitoba celebrated 200 years of Polish immigration in 2017) and Ukrainian history have made perogies a popular meal in Winnipeg.
