Listen, we really wanted to put Rod Gilbert on the New York Rangers’ Mount Rushmore. We really, really did.
But when you see who usurped Mr. Ranger, perhaps you’ll understand. As great as Gilbert was for as long as he was, he was part of one of the greatest NHL teams to never win a Stanley Cup. And Cups matter.
So, we’re giving the nod to three players who did manage to take the Rangers to the promised land 61 years apart. The other, the one who fulfills our requirement of being on the current roster, just might be able to lead them there again.
