It must be a relief to the Washington Capitals now that the playoffs are over. They can go back to what’s really important to them. And that’s focusing all their attention and efforts on doing what it takes to have Alex Ovechkin break the NHL’s all-time goal-scoring record.
Ovechkin and the Capitals were especially meek in the first round against the New York Rangers, bowing out in four games with Ovechkin recording zero points and just five shots on goal. Both he and the Caps were playing for their lives in the last weeks of the season, and perhaps they had nothing left in the tank.
