A current NXT star has reacted to Cody Rhodes teasing an appearance on this week’s NXT episode, sending a message to the Undisputed WWE Champion.
NXT hosted one of its most highly anticipated events of the year on Sunday night (June 9).
NXT Battleground was headlined by an NXT Championship match, with Trick Williams defeating Ethan Page in Page’s WWE in-ring debut.
During the show, Cody Rhodes hinted on Twitter that he will be at this Tuesday’s June 11 NXT taping.
Referencing his friendship with former AEW star Ethan Page, he wrote:
Watching @WWENXT Battleground curious how my old friend @OfficialEGO will do against @_trickwilliams
( Actually thinking of “dashing” down to FL this week with a gift and see some old friends ) @VicJosephWWE @ShawnMichaels
Another AEW star responded to Cody Rhodes, with Lexis King welcoming the Undisputed WWE Championship to the gold brand.
King wrote:
The King will be happy to have you, your grace 👑
King previously wrestled for AEW under his real name Brian Pillman Jr.
He competed at the inaugural AEW pay-per-view, Double or Nothing 2019, wrestling in the Casino Battle Royal.
He left AEW after his contract expired in July 2023, months before his WWE NXT in-ring debut that October.
Cody Rhodes is preparing to defend his gold against AJ Styles at Clash at the Castle. This match will have a big stipulation, which you can read more about right here.
