Nottingham Forest vs Chelsea predictions
Nottingham Forest can almost touch safety. One win in their last two games would be enough for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side to secure their Premier League status for at least another year.
They might not even need that. Defeats for Burnley and Luton Town on Saturday afternoon would in effect keep Forest up before they even take to the field for the 5.30pm kick-off.
Either way, the City Ground faithful will hope to be in a celebratory mood come the final whistle against Chelsea.
Forest learned this week that their appeal against a four-point penalty for breaching the league’s profit and sustainability rules had failed, but their efforts on the pitch have led them to the brink of survival anyway.
It has not exactly been plain sailing for Forest in recent months. They recently went through a run of winning one in 10 matches, a period which also coincided with that points penalty.
Last weekend, though, Forest stood up to be counted when the heat was really on. A 3-1 victory over Sheffield United represented a huge step towards a 17th-place finish (Nuno’s team cannot climb any higher than that).
Forest face Burnley on the final weekend, but they will hope to get the job done before then. That will not be easy, though. Having struggled for much of the campaign, Chelsea look revitalised under Mauricio Pochettino.
All of a sudden, the Blues are right in the mix for European football. Currently seventh, they are just two points shy of what are likely to be the Europa League places (much depends on whether Manchester City or Manchester United win the FA Cup).
This is therefore a match that will have implications in both halves of the table. On the penultimate weekend of the Premier League season, Nottingham Forest and Chelsea will butt heads with more than just three points up for grabs.
Nottingham Forest vs Chelsea betting tips
Nottingham Forest and Chelsea will do battle in a crunch Premier League clash this weekend.
Nottingham Forest or draw – 17/20 (BetMGM)
Pochettino has been under pressure for much of the campaign, but Chelsea fans are liking what they are seeing from his team right now.
Handsome victories over Everton (6-0) and West Ham United (5-0) were particularly eye-catching, but a routine 2-0 defeat of Champions League-chasing Tottenham Hotspur was perhaps even more impressive overall.

Yet look a little closer and it becomes clear that Chelsea’s revival is incomplete. While they have taken 16 points from the last 18 on offer at Stamford Bridge, Pochettino’s team have gone five league away games without a win.
If we extend that to all competitions, Chelsea have failed to win seven of their last eight contests at other grounds.
Nottingham Forest also rely heavily on their home form. With the City Ground crowd behind them, they should find a way to at least avoid defeat in this one.

Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals – 8/11 (bet365)
Chelsea have succeeded in keeping a fair few clean sheets at Stamford Bridge in recent weeks, but once more it is a different story on the road.
Remarkably, you have to go all the way back to October 3 to find the last time Chelsea kept a clean sheet in an away match. Since then they have played 16 matches at rival grounds.
In their last four Premier League away games, Pochettino’s side have shipped 11 goals. That includes two against each of Brentford and Sheffield United, both in the bottom five.
At the same time, Nottingham Forest have started to show some real potential in attack. Chris Wood has performed well under Nuno, while Morgan Gibbs-White, Anthony Elanga and Callum Hudson-Odoi make up a tricky trio in behind.
Nine of Chelsea’s last 10 top-flight fixtures have contained 2.5 goals or more, as have four of Forest’s last six.
Both teams struggle to shut out opposition frontlines, so this bet looks like a good pick for Saturday.

Callum Hudson-Odoi to score any time – 4/1 (BetUK)
The aforementioned Hudson-Odoi was the star of the show last weekend as Nottingham Forest saw off Sheffield United. He scored twice in Yorkshire to help his team on the way to a vital victory.
Things did not quite work out at Chelsea for Hudson-Odoi, who came through the club’s academy and went on to make 126 appearances for the first team.
He will be determined to show why his former employers were wrong to get rid of him this weekend.
There are also tactical reasons why Hudson-Odoi, a right-footed left-winger, could have some joy against Chelsea.
With Reece James and Malo Gusto on the treatment table, the Blues have had to field Alfie Gilchrist and Trevoh Chalobah at right-back of late.
Gusto returned as a substitute last weekend but this match may come too soon for him to start. Hudson-Odoi can cause his old club problems.
