Tottenham can move clear in the race for a Champions League place if they beat Newcastle on Saturday lunchtime, exclusively live on talkSPORT.
Spurs currently sit above Aston Villa only on goal difference but play before their rivals this weekend and will be aiming to put three points between them.
Ange Postecoglou’s side beat Nottingham Forest 3-1 last time out and have won four of their last six heading into the season run-in.
They’ll be seeking another victory on the road as they travel up north to meet the Magpies, who are out to keep their own European hopes alive.
Newcastle vs Tottenham: Nice one, Sonny
Heung-min Son has the chance to join an exclusive club this weekend.
The Tottenham captain has been involved in 24 goals in his last 25 Premier League appearances, scoring 15 and assisting nine.

Should he provide an assist against Newcastle, he will become only the sixth player to register double figures in both goals and assist in three different top-flight campaigns.
Son has achieved the feat in the 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons already.
If he reaches 10 assists, he would join Wayne Rooney, Mohamed Salah, Frank Lampard, Eric Cantona and Didier Drogba as part of an impressive group.
He would equal Drogba by doing it on three occasions, while Rooney leads the way with five different seasons scoring at least 10 goals and providing at least 10 assists.
- Tottenham have scored at least once in each of their last 17 Premier League away games against Newcastle, since a 4-0 loss in December 2003. It’s their longest scoring streak away against an opponent in their league history.
- Newcastle won this exact fixture 6-1 last season, last winning consecutive home league games against Spurs between April 2006 and December 2008 (a run of four).
Newcastle vs Tottenham: Team news
Newcastle’s injury troubles continue to plague their season with Joe Willock unavailable because of a fresh Achilles injury.
Miguel Almiron, Sven Botman, Callum Wilson, Joelinton, Nick Pope, Jamaal Lascelles, Tino Livramento and Lewis Miley are all sidelined.
Kieran Trippier has also been out for over a month but could be nearing a return, but left-back Lewis Hall is a slight concern.
As for Tottenham, Richarlison will be missing once again due to a knee injury.
Fraser Forster, Manor Solomon and Ryan Sessegnon are Spurs’ other guaranteed absentees.
- Along with opponents Spurs, Newcastle are one of just two teams to have scored in 100% of their Premier League home games this season. Their current run of scoring in 16 consecutive Premier League home games is their longest since a run of 18 between September 2002 and August 2003.
- Following a run of six defeats in seven games, Newcastle have lost just two of their last 10 in the Premier League (W5 D3). The Magpies are looking to win consecutive league games for the first time since December following their 1-0 win at Fulham last time out.
Newcastle vs Tottenham: What has been said?
Micky van de Ven scored a superb goal for Tottenham last weekend and his performance led to high praise from former Spurs midfielder Jamie Redknapp.
After he was awarded Player of the Match, Redknapp offered him some of the highest praise possible, comparing him to two of the Premier League’s top centre-backs.
Redknapp said: “‘Arsenal fans will look at Saliba who is a great young defender as well, but I think this guy’s equally as good. He’s got everything going for him.
“You see the difference when Spurs lost him when he had his hamstring injuries. I think if he stays injury free there’s no reason why he can’t almost emulate what Virgil van Dijk’s done.
“When Virgil was a similar age, Virgil wasn’t producing the performances that he is right now.
“He’s only going to get better, as long as he doesn’t get too many injuries along the way because that can affect with the hamstrings and the speed that he’s got, but he’s a top player, he really is.”
- Newcastle are averaging 1.7 goals conceded per game in the Premier League this season, compared to 0.9 last term. Despite this, only Arsenal (14) have kept more clean sheets than the Magpies in 2023-24 (9).
- Having won four of their first six Premier League away games this season (D2), Tottenham have won just two of their subsequent nine on the road (D4 L3).
