Netherlands will play a friendly against a fourth tier German side in the build up to their round of 16 clash, according to reports.
Ronald Koeman’s side are set to qualify as the best third-place side at Euro 2024 and look likely to face Group C England in the next ground, although this isn’t confirmed yet.
And in their preparation for their first knockout stage game, the Dutch have reportedly organised a game on Wednesday, the day after their 3-2 loss to Austria.
According to Dutch outlet NOS, the Netherlands will play a friendly against TSV Havelse of the Regionalliga Nord division.
The team, based near Hanover, were due to play a friendly against fifth tier side Lupo Martini Wolfsburg on Wednesday, but this now appears to have been cancelled.
Should Netherlands play England on Sunday, they will face them in Gelsenkirchen, roughly 146 miles away from where TSV Havelse are based.
The city – which is home to FC Shalke – hosted the Three Lions’ 1-0 opening win over Serbia and also saw fans face severe travel issues.
The Netherlands last faced the Three Lions in June 2019 as they saw them off with a 3-1 win in the Nations League.
Just before England endured a 0-0 bore draw with Slovenia on Tuesday, the Dutch suffered a late defeat to Austria.
Donyell Malen conceded an own goal, before Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo found an equaliser in the 47th minute to make it 1-1.
Romano Schmid fired Austria back in front just before the hour mark, but Memphis Depay brought his side level 15 minutes later.
It was Austria captain Marcel Sabitzer that rained on Koeman and co’s parade in the end, though.
The Borussia Dortmund star found the net with 10 minutes to go to condemn the Netherlands to a 3-2 defeat.
