Nate Robinson still holds a grudge against Doc Rivers.
Robinson joined “The OGs” podcast with Udonis Haslem and Mike Miller and revealed that Rivers cost him a hefty bonus at one point in his career.
“I’ve still got a little beef with Doc,” Robinson said, as covered by Larry Brown Sports. “I had in my contract where I made like $2 million or $1.5 million, something like that if I played a certain amount of games. Doc Rivers gives me a DNP [did not play] the game where I needed one more game to get $1.5 million.”
“… I never even asked him, but I know he did that s–t on purpose.”
Rivers is currently the coach of the Bucks.
In 2010, the Knicks traded Robinson to the Celtics for Eddie House, J.R. Giddens and a draft pick.
Robinson ultimately played for Rivers for parts of two seasons on the Celtics — Boston dealt him to the Thunder the following year — and the two also had a brief stint together with the Clippers, where Robinson appeared in nine games during the 2014-15 season.
On a more serious note, Robinson also revealed this week that he is in dire need of a kidney transplant.
“I know that I don’t have long if I can’t get a kidney,” Robinson told the Daily Mail. “I know I’m not going to have long to live. So I just want to make the best of it as much as I can.
“Some people’s body reject dialysis. And thank God that mine accepts it and I can live … if I didn’t go to dialysis, I wouldn’t live probably longer than a week or two. So it’s serious, can’t miss a day. I go in for four hours, three days a week, four hours a day. And they clean my blood to get my toxins out. And they help me out a lot because that’s how I’m living.”
Robinson, 39, added that he has been hospitalized several times in recent years.
“The [dialysis] machine has been helping my longevity and my life right now,” said Robinson, who added he cut out processed food to try to stay healthier. “So, I’m just enjoying the times where I do feel healthy. I try to get out there with my kids, see my family and play basketball, do the things that I love.
