A female MMA fighter scored one of the most violent knockouts you are likely to ever see on Friday night in South Dakota.
Kendra McIntyre and Katarina Legorreta opened up the Legacy Fighting Alliance (LFA) 182 event with a bang when McIntyre connected with a devastating head kick midway through the third and final round of their strawweight bout.
As the two exhausted fighters exchanged laboured blows in the middle of the cage, McIntyre propelled a powerful roundhouse to Legorreta’s dome.
The shot sent Legorreta hurtling backwards into a crumpled heap against the fence.
“Oh my goodness! What a head kick from Kendra McIntyre,” the LFA commentators screamed.
“Are you kidding me? Walk off knockout… Unbelievable shot from Kendra McIntyre. Wow…
“What a knockout. What a knockout. An unbelievably violent knockout from Kendra McIntyre.
“She’s a buzz saw. She was on point tonight.
“Oh, man. Highlight for the ages. Possibly knockout of the year already.”
LFA’s commentatory team weren’t alone in their assessment of the knockout.
As videos of the brutal finish began to circulate online, fans reacted with amazement.
One fan wrote: “Hands down one of the nastiest MMA knockouts you will ever see.”
Another tweeted: “Knockout of the year for sure.”
A third added: “What a great KO. In line with [Holly] Holm,” in reference to Holly Holm’s famous head kick knockout win over Ronda Rousey in 2015.
Many felt Max Holloway’s walk-off KO win over Justin Gaethje at UFC 300 earlier this month wouldn’t be topped.
But McIntyre’s sickening stoppage ensures there will be serious competition for best KO at the end-of-year MMA awards.
