Several WWE stars have reacted to the AEW World Championship changing hands at Sunday’s AEW Dynasty pay-per-view.
During the April 21 show, Samoa Joe defended his AEW World Title against Swerve Strickland. A new champion was crowned, with Strickland defeating Samoa Joe to win AEW’s top prize.
As was previously covered, NXT star Joe Gacy took to Twitter to show Strickland support, writing:
Swerve ❤️
Kofi Kingston shared a similar message, with the former WWE Champion tweeting:
SWERVE!
Cedric Alexander also congratulated Strickland, writing:
Congratulations @swerveconfident

Strickland’s AEW Dynasty win made him the first black AEW World Champion. The former “Isaiah Swerve Scott” is the eighth competitor to hold the AEW World Champion, following the reigns of Chris Jericho, Jon Moxley, Kenny Omega, Hangman Page, CM Punk, MJF and Samoa Joe.
His win ended Samoa Joe’s 113 day reign with the gold, following Joe winning the title from MJF at the December 2023 Worlds End pay-per-view.
Another title match has been confirmed for AEW Double or Nothing, which you can read more about right here.
