Moises Caicedo returned to Brighton training the day after the transfer window slammed shut.
The 21-year-old will remain a Seagulls player for the remainder of the season, at the very least.
The midfielder was told to stay away from training while speculation ramped up about his future.
Arsenal made two transfer bids for Caicedo, with the second worth £70million.
Brighton flatly refused to even consider selling their star man, despite the vast sums being offered.
As a result, the Seagulls gave him time off until after the transfer window closed, but said he would be welcomed back.
The Ecuador midfielder went public with his desire to leave the club, but that still did not change their stance.
He said: “I am grateful to Mr. Bloom and Brighton for giving me the chance to come to the Premier League and I feel I have always done my best for them. I always play football with a smile and with heart.
“I am the youngest of 10 siblings from a poor upbringing in Santa Domingo in Ecuador. My dream always to be the most decorated player in the history of Ecuador.
“I am proud to be able to bring in a record transfer fee for Brighton which would allow them to reinvest it and help the club continue to be successful.
“The fans have taken me into their hearts and they will always be in my heart so I hope they can understand why I want to take up this magnificent opportunity.”
That opportunity may still come in the summer, but for now he remains on the south coast.
The club return to Premier League action on Saturday with a clash against Bournemouth at the Amex.
