David Beckham believes that England have a ‘real opportunity’ for success at Euro 2024 this summer.
The Manchester United legend has also lauded Jude Bellingham for his exemplary attitude as he eyes glory in Germany with the Three Lions.
Euro 2024 kicks-off on June 14 and England are one of the favourites to go all the way having finished as runners-up against Italy in 2021.
Beckham played in five major tournaments for his country, two of which came in the Euros, and has high hopes for Gareth Southgate’s side in the coming weeks.
Speaking to talkSPORT at the premiere of ’99’, a new documentary on his and United’s treble-winning season, he said “I think we all get excited about these big competitions.
“As England fans, we’re always excited for when the Euros come around or the World Cup comes around and our fans will get right behind the team.

“I think we have a real opportunity but we all know that once you’re in a tournament, then it’s a whole different ball game. But I’m excited, as an England fan I’m excited for these Euros.”
One player who’s set to be a key factor in England’s chances of success is Bellingham, who’s enjoyed an excellent debut season at Real Madrid.
The 20-year-old has won LaLiga and the Spanish Super Cup so far this year, and Beckham is a big fan of how the midfielder conducts himself on the big stage.
“Obviously the season that Jude’s had, the talent that he is. But it’s not just the talent with Jude, it’s about the way he is, the way he handles himself, he’s a model pro that knows exactly what he needs to do.
“For someone that is so young to have the maturity that he has is incredible and I think him playing abroad has helped him with that.
“Now he’s obviously at Real Madrid where the expectations are higher than most other clubs around the world and he’s living up to those.
“It’s great to see his smile, it’s great to see the talent that he is and when he gets in that England shirt, we’ll all be very happy as well.”
Southgate is set to decide his 26-man squad for Euro 2024 in the coming weeks, with a deadline set for June 7.
Before they travel to Germany, the Three Lions will play two friendlies against Bosnia and Herzegovina and Iceland at St James’ Park and Wembley Stadium respectively.
England open their Euros campaign against Serbia before facing Denmark and Slovenia in their final Group C matches.
