Zlatan Ibrahimovic has told Tyson Fury to ‘make history’ in a good luck message ahead of his undisputed showdown with Oleksandr Usyk.
The ex-Manchester United striker is a huge fan of the British boxer and wished the Gypsy King well ahead of Saturday’s blockbuster bout in Saudi Arabia.
WBC world champion Fury can unify the heavyweight division with victory over the undefeated Ukrainian, who holds the WBA, WBO and IBF straps.
And Ibrahimovic, who the Carabao Cup and Europa League during his stint at Old Trafford, gave Red Devils fan Fury one final pep talk before he enters the lion’s den.
In a video shared by the 35-year-old on Instagram, Swedish football legend Ibrahimovic said: “Tyson Fury what’s up.
“Hope you had a good pre-camp preparation. You look good, you look sharp.
“Enjoy the fight. I’m pretty sure you know what you have to do. And I’m pretty sure you will do what you have been doing always, making history.
“Be yourself. Go in there and dance and make us enjoy. But the most important thing, do what you’re able to do and that’s winning.
“Go out there and have fun and make sure you win, like always. Make history and we will be watching.”
Captioning the clip, Fury stated: “The lion Zlatan Ibrahimovic has spoken.
“We will come in like Kings and leave [as] legends. Thank you Ibra. History will be made at Ring Of Fire.”
Fury is sporting a new streamlined look for the clash, but despite his leaner frame, Usyk still gives up considerable size to the unbeaten Mancunian.
Fury’s trainer SugarHill Steward claims his fighter is fitter than ever, and has predicted a further drop in body weight before fight night.
He told Sky Sports: “It’s not even that he’s lighter, he’s just more fit. He hasn’t dropped a bunch of weight just to get down low.
“It’s just weight where he can be stronger and more mobile and agile and everything else.
“It takes some work to get there and he’s at the point in his life where he wanted to get there. So this is where it’s at.”
